HAED Impetuous Arrival - PAGE 16 COMPLETE 12/6/2011

This project is all my mom's fault

After finishing Shining On I was going to be a good girl and go back to Ancient Dragon Scholar (Beard), but my mom (we talk about the new HAED charts quite a bit) surprised me with the Impetuous Arrival chart on my last visit home. Let me tell you, she can put together a mean chart. All 54-pages were placed in sheet protectors with the color chart and then put into a binder. I think I might have to hire her for ALL my charts!



She then challenged me to to test the tent stitch because she wanted to see it . . . Yes, she sent her child out to test a stitch, forcing me into starting a new project . . . Well, you HAVE to listen to your mother and I fell in love with both the colors and the tent stitch.

28 ct. tan evenweave purchased from local cross stitch store
2 x 1 tent stitch

While I was stitching I didn't see how the "Arrival"'s face was going to come together . . . As I was using the fill in color it almost takes your breath away with how realistic it looks in thread.

Tent stitch is like a half stitch, if I'm not mistaken? Wow, you're so fast!!! Very well done!! I saw the face, it's very amazing!! WOW!

I went and looked it up on the HAED site because I couldn't see a face, but it turns out I was looking in the wrong place -- you're right, it does come together very well!

When i looked at your stitching i didn't see a face ,but that was because i was looking at everything else in the photo. .Having now seen the photo again,his face is looking very realistic in your stitching.Nice work.

CASSLE - The tent stitch is similar to half a cross stitch. If the grid is set up like:

A B C D
E F G H

You would come up in B and down in E, then on the back cross over to C and come up and then down in F. Cross over on the back to D and come up and go down in G. This creates full coverage on the back as well and limits the amount of fabric that comes through.

And with me working on 28 ct., you can hardly tell the difference between a full cross and the tent. The stitches are so small.

Two more pages done! I think I have fallen madly in love with the tent stitch!

In pages 3 and 4 the top of the lady's head began to appear. What I really love though is the way that the light beam appears. Who would have thought you could capture that with thread? The next four pages are all background, but it has to be done!

Even though she is a big project . . . I am using an 8 x 8 Q-Snap . . . it's a lot easier to hold on to than the 11 x 17 I have. I was worried that the Q-Snap was going to hurt the already complete stitches, but by placing a piece of white flannel between the evenweave and the clamp, it doesn't impact it much at all!
