Stitch In Time - FINISHED!!! :)

Post by JuWildman »

Hi all,

This is my current WIP: Margaret Sherry's Stitch in Time. I want to get it finished before I start on the HAED chart I plan to buy next month! I was going to add my Siberian Tiger as my WIP, but got tempted into starting this one instead

Also, I recently lost my three pet rats in a short space of time, so this is kind of for them too (mice are as close to rats as I've been able to find cross stitch wise...)

This is what the finished design will look like:

Stitch In Time

This is as far as I've got since yesterday. It's my first attempt at using the parking technique, which I've found to be really helpful in my stitching. The brown bit on the left is the mouse stood on the thimble.

(Sorry the photo's a bit wonky, it was taken with my mobile as my camera has just packed up  )

So sorry for the loss of your pets  I love the design you're doing; it's so cute! It looks like the fabric is a pale pink, or is it? It looks very pretty! :applesauce:

Thank you all for the condolences - it's been a few weeks now since I lost the last ratty, I was devastated but it's getting better as time passes. And we still have our cat and parrot - hopefully they're not going anywhere yet!

I don't know if any of you have ever owned a pet rat but they are so sweet and funny, there's no pet quite like them! (And if any one is considering getting one, please check your local shelter - they often are inundated with ratties desperately needing homes... OK, off my soapbox now  )

So far the design has been great fun to stitch, I wish I'd discovered parking sooner, it's speeding me up! Not looking forward so much to the backstitch - sewing that hoop's going to be evil!

Hi pamelam, no, it's plain white, I think the voile curtains cast a tint on it! Pale pink would have looked nice though :)

I'm going to enjoy watching this one! I've had pet mice over the years and the most memorable one was a white mouse named Helmut I had as a teenager. He lived for three years which the vet said was a long time for a mouse. Our German Shepherd loved to sit and watch him run around in his tubes and one time they came face to face and he nipped the dog on the nose! So sorry for your loss. You're right, they do make great pets.
