Just some opinions please.

Post by stitchingmae »

Okay so noticed while starting to stitch my bless this home again, that I am not going to have enough of the brown color for the words I sent to the company they sent me brown not the same brown close but not the same. I returned with a piece of the color that I have and they again sent me out another set of thread again, not the same color. I don't have anything that really matches. I have not stitched soo much of this brown color.

Now I have the brown color they claim that is the DMC 938 that was sent in the package its not the same but I do have the 938 in my personal stash. should.

Try my luck with the original color and hope that i have enough to last me.

Start mixing in the closet color they sent

or unstitch the small amount of brown and start with the 938 that I have in my own collection.

My hubby doesn't understand the importance of this matter..he just shakes his head and says whatever you think babe.

Sorta like I do when he asks me how a "riff" fits into some of his music LOL

I'd unpick and re-do it with my own thread. If you try to mix it, I'm sure you will notice.
Good luck.

A stitcher? OCD... never. I'm with everyone else. If you get to the very end and run out, then have to use another brown, it'll be pretty evident.

I'm voting with the take it out and start over. Words are usually fast anyway. I thought cross-stitching was specifically designed with OCD in mind :D lol.

I'm going with everyone else--unpick the brown and start with your own thread--tis a shame to have to do it, but that way you won't have to worry about it looking off!!

I agree. I think you should :anotherfrog: what you have done so far and start with the 938 from your stash. That way you know you will have enough of the right color :D

Yep, it's unpicking time in your house! If you don't you won't be happy with the result. I hope you didn't ask for opinions in the hope that we'd all say to mix them or something!

Definitely calls for unpicking .. you'll spot the diff straight off once the piece is completed.

Hope we see the finished piece!

I found an old old project of mine from like 10 years ago that I quit because I ran out of the gold color in the kit. I can feel your pain with this! :P I'd say rip it and start over with your own color... that is what I am going to do if I ever decide to finish my old one.

And here, I'd wondered why :anotherfrog: was packing his bags and getting ready for a trip... oh! and look: he's also packed DMC 938 in his kit. Such a thoughtful :frog:

I too would take out what has been done and stitch with the DMC. I would also make sure you have enough to finish all the words with the same lot because I have stitched a grey that is two different lots and they are slightly different and I can tell, I don't know if anyone else can, but I don't say anything.

Yes Maemae.. I would agree with the others. Its time to pull up a table at Café le Frog and start over with your own thread.. all the same, from the same dye lot.

I have a big :anotherfrog: session ahead of me.. and because of dye lot issues, even though I only need to re-stitch a small area, I am thinking I need to rip out a whole tree and stitch it over. So.. better make that a table for two at the café.. I will be joining you soon.

Well I am done it was about 150 stiches to unpick. Took me a while due to some being boxed in by another color. Yay! I used a seam ripper and hemostats scissors and a needle
