When are you going to start selling your beautiful work? You could set up an Etsy or Folksy store... I'm pretty certain you'd have people flocking to buy!

Lol thanks I think I might sell pens but that's about it. I still have a lot more to make and experience yet though. And maybe just sell to the people on the forums, not sure. If it weren't so expensive I might be making these for my wedding as a save the day keepsake. Not sure though.
Those pens are incredible! How do you put them together after turning? How does one turn acrylic? Do you make the colour blend yourself? oh, and by the way, WOW!

The acrylic actually comes in this thing called a blank (the wood does too). It's already pre-mixed and made into a block. The block is 3/4" by 3/4" and about 10" in length I think. Then you just cut it to the length that you need. Find the center of the ends by using a square and matching up corner to corner, and making an X on the end, and just drill in the center of that X. That's the same way you do a wooden pen too. Then just put it on this thing called a Lathe, and you use chisels for woodworking to turn it til it's round. Then sand and use something to give it some shine, and you're good to go. Fun and relaxing. Thank you very much.
This is a really interesting thread. So many nice things. I didn't know that you could make pens.
I never turned wood. In school the teacher warned us that if you didn't fasten the wood it could come loose, hit you and kill you. I didn't dare touch the machine after hearing that.
Love your work, Corey! Well done. Did you make these with the new machine?

That is true, however it doesn't happen very often that someone has a fatality from it. Luckily I just have a small lathe for now, not the huge one, don't have room for it. Thankfully for me there has only been two small IFO's (Identified Flying Objects) from the lathe. The only thing that I've been scared of is the Table Saw, but lately I've been trying to overcome that. I know what to do safety wise, I just don't like using it. lol.
Thanks to everyone as well for the comments. Wonder if I have time to make anything today?. Only a couple days off left before I have to go back to work.

I'm sorry, I didn't notice your post sooner. Yes I did make these, partially with my new grinder. It was well worth the struggle and hassle and much cursing, of installing the grinder. That way I could get my tools nice and sharp and produce smoother finishes. *sigh of happiness*
