Can't tell you why - but I prefer the first one, mercedes, the other option seems too brown to me but I guess it depends on what colours you are planning on stitching the owl! It also depends on your interpretation of the design - I've chosen the same fabric that Abi picked except in an opal - I see the fabric as the sparkly sky at dusk. The fabric choice was easy for me - as for the threads - now that's the hard part -I have no idea!

I also prefer the first one (Mercedes), but I think its because I tend to like blues. Seemed softer. But as Mrs. MBK said, a lot probably depends on what threads you plan to use on it.
I am looking forward to ya'll doing this one. The progress updates should be really fun to watch.

Knowing the finish I like the blue best since it reminds me of twilight and hunting time for owls.

i know it is totally up to you, but you did ask, so here goes...

i like the 2nd one, the brown. it seems more woodsy and appropriate for the owl theme. i also think the neutral background w/make the threads "pop" better, and not be so busy.

but whatever you choose, it's gonna be great!!!

That deep blue is just beautiful. The color is so rich. I guess depending on the threads you choose it could be lovely. I never think of dark colors for materials. I would love a dress that color, actually.

I think it totally depends on the mood you want to set with the finished piece all of them are beautiful.

While I really like the midnight, I think it's too dark for The Great Escape. Of the three you chose, I'd probably go with Echo, the second one listed, which is variegated grays. I got my fabric from 123stitch as well, choosing the PTP 28ct in Monet, which is fairly close to what Abi used. Another I might consider would be the same PTP fabric in Crystal Dawn, which is a variegated blue with the opalescent quality. Lots of choices!

Hmmmm :thinks: -- all the colours are so great in their own right it's difficult to decide! I think my first concern would be to make sure that the fabric doesn't overwhelm/overpower the design.

Great idea on the Monet--I'd originally seen the name but there wasn't a price listed on the main page, so I didn't even consider looking at it--- I am going to order that one as well as ordering 28 Ct. Blueberry Jobelan and I'm sure that one of them will be just what I am after!! The Monet is really near to what Abi used and I am thrilled that it's still available.

Thanks so much to everyone for their input!!! I really do appreciate it!!!

Just looked at the Monet fabric - it is gorgeous, but then I am a complete purple freak anyway! Bet you can't wait for your package to arrive!
