Eastern Promise - Updated October 1st - Framed

Well, at 11 minutes to 9 this evening, this happened.............


Hurrah!!! It now looks like this


So now all there is left to do is the central panel, washing and the beads (gulp!!). I'm designing the central panel myself. As it's a wedding sampler, I'm not doing the original text. Instead, inspired by Colibri's wedding present and Mabel's card (thank you ladies), I'm stitching the 'I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine' from Songs of Solomon, with the couple's names and date of the wedding. I'm quite looking forward to doing the beading. I've made a bit of jewellery in the past, so hopefully it shouldn't be too scary!!
With any luck, I'll be off to the framer's in a week's time .

Stitching is now complete and I'm waiting for it to dry out thoroughly before I do the beading


I sewed a few beads on earlier on after I'd washed it but it was still a bit damp. (Call me impatient but I've been dying to try the beading!) It's not as daunting as I'd thought it might be. I'm just using plain white dressmaking cotton and a thin sewing needle and it seems to be fine. The tension is fine and you can't see the thread against the white aida. I had a try with some invisible thread and proper beading needle but the thread kept coming out of the eye and it was a complete nightmare to keep re-threading as the eye was so small. Anyway, I hope to have a good bash at it tonight and hopefully there will be a trip to the framer's this week!!
