Aida Hunting!

Post by karsa6245 »

Need a tad bit of help, i wanna make a nightmare before christmas cushion for my friend for christmas, i'm going to design the characters myself using graph paper (which i've never tried :thinks: but give it a shot!) and i'm a bit baffled on the best aida colour for it! I'm a bit limited on money so have to stick with 14/16ct aida i was thinking a sparkly grey would look great or a hand dyed grey and white but cant seem to find any on the sites i've found, anybody got a website where there is some? and not too expensive (under £10) I'm in the uk aswell so want try and get it from a UK site so gets here relatively fast.

Have you had a look at Polstitches? they have a couple that might fit the bill, including one called Bewitched... (it's on p2 on the site).

I have also seen all sorts of different colors available on ebay, you might want to check it out.

If you're on a budget but you do want some sparkle, how about "standard" (I mean not hand-dyed) opalescent aida? Sew & So sell it here in white and several colours, for £8.25 per fat quarter (white) or £7.50 per fat quarter (coloured)

sorry for the slow reply ^^ last few days have been busy, I've looked over those sites you mentioned and im baffled on which colour would look best! i liked the sound of the silver flecked white on sew and so, but then i thought 'would it look too plain?' most of the characters are going to be blacks, whites and grey's only sally is going to have a bit of colour so i wasn't sure what to go for, i would like it to stand out what colour do you think would be best? as i have found quite a few sites which do some really nice colours but i cant exactly picture the finished piece in my mind on the colours! (imagination is feeling a bit run down  )
