Not me although I can remember seeing some done many years ago. Takes a lot of patience I'm sure. Do you do that craft? If so would love to see pics of your work - a lovely walk down memory lane for me.

yes, years and years ago. I lost patience quite quickly after cutting my fingers and finding the matches weren't perfectly square ... I gave up.

I did some ages ago as a kid. I think what bugged me was the accumulation of glue over fingers when trying to affix the next match and also when some of the matches didn't stick properly. The cutting to get the interlocking on walls etc could be a bit of a pain too. Probably still have a kit floating about somewhere though. Maybe DS will like to try it once he's old enough.

Never had the patient for that type of work but I do recall it was the rage for quite awhile.

As one of the other said if you do this work we would love to see pictures of them.

My two sons and I used to do this, but it's a long time ago. I can remember how we had to set hundreds of matches alight as we couldn't collect enough used ones from family and friends.. Ii've no doubt the match burning was more exciting to the boys than the actual building. My younger son still lives in New Zealand and he has everything we ever made. Wonder if I can get him to send some photos over :thinks:

My sons have done this when they were involved in enrichment classes in school. I have seen it done but I, myself, have never tried it. I don't think I have the patience to do it though.

I've seen amazing things built from matchsticks, they even come upon the Antiques Roadshow sometimes so you may have built an "antique of the future" :-)!
