These are lovely, i just started my first hardanger kit today, just a small dmc one. I picked it up on ebay because id always wondered what it was and so far im really enjoying it
Hey cool! Glad it got there safely and it has a very interesting effect. Had you tried the wool before? I'd never heard of it. Sorry to hear about the bunching, I'll keep that in mind if I try some myself.
Tiffany, I'd used crewel wool before, but this is thinner than the Appleton's I've got. I'm not sure "bunching" is the right word really -- what I meant was that when I did the spider's webs, it sat much closer together so the same number of round trips made a much smaller spider's web.
Also, you need to use shorter lengths than I did . It comes in 2-yard lengths, which I halved, and by the time I got to the end of a thread (for example in the chain stitch) it would get a little fluffy and/or thin -- my fault entirely !
I love it. The colors are fantastic. And I love your new stitch. Even if its out there you thought of it on your own which I think is wonderfully creative.

Beautiful work Mabel, you have such a great instinct when it comes to colour in all your designs. Your thread and fabric combinations are always amazing - I can't wait to get back to stitching some more of your designs!

the last Round Dozen variation for a while, I've now got all the birthday cards I'll need for a bit...
This one uses small double cross stitches in the uncut Kloster blocks -- because I used perle rather than stranded cotton or silk, they've come out really 3D! And after all those very colourful ones, I went for cream with a pastelly House of Embroidery perle.
