The lady in the shop was great and said if when I get the pattern I decide some of the colours aren't right shes happy for me to change them.

As she said she's known me all my life and trusts me not to have sampled the threads!!!!

Pretty colors, Emma. I will probably wait till I get back to the LNS in 2 weeks to get my fabric and threads. I'm thinking an ecru 28 ct and then pinks and purples mostly. Will probably end up with white and reds and oranges.

Love your colours Emma :)

I've settled on a grey for the fabric, (at the moment anyway) and I'm looking at mostly blues with maybe lilacs/purples/plums for the threads. That is of course subject to change every five minutes

Question though. I'm now looking at beads and I've realised that I have no idea what size bead you should use on 28 count. Help?

I think Mill Hill seed beads would probably be best. That's what's used for L&L and Mirabila designs, which are generally done on 28 and 32 count fabrics.

Any bead that is a size 11/0 should be fine - I remember some forum members recommending Gutermann beads, I haven't personally tried them myself. MH beads annoy me at times due to the amount that I've had to discard for being irregular so I might try these at some point! Delicas are used in my Chatelaines but they are expensive over here compared to US prices.

I'm waiting on beads. I hate beading so I will probably not add any until its all done. I can put it off for 2 years that way.

I keep reading this thread and telling myself that I must NOT start any new WIPS until I have my Pirate HAED finished (I mean 4yrs for a 9 page chart is pushing it  ) and I have done so well at not giving in to temptation!

So why did I find myself in Hobbycraft today buying some 32 count linen for this
   So it looks like I am in on this SAL too!

Can't wait to start, I have chosen my threads, all from my stash (I couldn't justify starting a sneaky new WIP and buying new stash all on the same day) even if I have spent way to many hours looking at hand dyed threads that would be perfect  I will add a pic tomorrow when I get one in the daylight!

Jenny, just look at this one as a tutorial SAL. After all, for our HAEDs, we simply do the same stitch over and over and over, just switching colors. For this SAL, each new piece is a true learning experience. I see justification for considering this an entirely different type of project and not just another WIP!

Is that a picture of it at the bottom of the newsletter page or is it a complete surprise what it will look like? I bought Castles in the Air after it had all been released, so not sure about joining this not knowing what it will look like... :thinks:

Dana, this is a mystery SAL. Pictures will be available only as each part is released. We won't see the entire picture for 2 years. Theresa

Gorgeous colours everyone.

I really must stop reading this thread! Having resolved just to collect the parts and start it some time later, I'm now musing over thread and fabric colours..... But I really must make progress on my big projects before starting another one *repeats this several times hoping it might sink in  *

Whether I will change my mind on any of the colours once we start, who knows  I haven't decided on the colours for the metalics yet.

Oh lovely colours :)

I've picked similar colours so far but mine are overdyed. I've settled on just over half, which arrived this morning, and I just have to narrow the final couple down ready to order them.

Pretty colours!

Local Shops!! WONDERFUL!!! Try doing that in Hobbycraft!
If we don't use the local shops they just disappear!! Goes for all of them, not just the craft outlets!

Our banks ATM was out of money but my local shop let me shop and owe, despite the message on the till stating otherwise.

Hi All, I've just signed in and read this whole thread, signed up for the newsletter and had a read of their site. I'm in! Went through my stash and I have to shop! :applesauce: I've decided on my colours, fabric and beads. I have about half of what I need. I've never used pearl cottons before so this will be fun to try something new. Off to shop!
