Re: HAED - Bless Our Heavenly Home (Page 1 Finished)

Post by stdenny »

I gave up trying to figure out the mistake. But hopefully it isn't as noticeable. LOL. I was feeling daunted again looking at the next few pages. I nearly lost the will to carry on. LOL. But I got the mojo back again to do the 2nd page. What was putting me off was all the confetti at the bottom of the next page and the 3rd page isn't much better. LOL. I'm so not looking forward to doing the angels cos they are full of confetti  At the the bottom of the first page, you can see the tip of a wing. But boy that was horrible to do. Lot of confetti and the back of it is hairy and thick compared to sections with the blocks of colours and the threads of the previous stitches keep poking thru. lol.

I know I wrote 1st page done but it isn't really. The part I left out is the metallic thread and I read somewhere that it is better to leave any metallic till the end of the project. Is that true? I would be a bit worried of the fraying and maybe the roller clip squashing the metallic outta shape.

I haven't done a lot with this the last couple weeks. There was days where I lost the will to continue with this. LOL. But I prevailed. I think it was cos I thought or I made a mistake. And there's so much dark colours at the top of the chart but I wants to finish the dark bits before doing the lighter colours.

I have picked 3 projects to do in between this. One is another HAED and two Joan Elliott's. I haven't done any of Joan's works yet and I love her fantasy and whismal designs. Just need to get the threads and stuff. But I don't know what the cheapest price you can get for Mill Hill Seed beads and Kreinik's threads and where to get them cheaply. The Kreiniks are very expensive. Over £3.00 for them.

beautiful update on this--the colors are so vibrant!! Great stitching.
I do like your idea of alternating projects--another HAED  and two of Joan Elliott's. Which designs are you going to do?? As for the beads and kreinik threads--I know that a couple of our members will be able to steer you in the right direction--Rainbow Gallery makes a nice alternate to the kreinik braid--it's called Treasure Braid-Petites
Looking forward to your next updates

Thanks. :) I'm gonna do the new Baby sampler in Cross Stitch Gold or is it Collection? It's the one titled Time to Play and it got a Teddy and a purple elephant on it. And the 2nd one is the Summer Fairy. The only thing that is putting me off the fairy is all the beads. And this will be the first time I worked with beads. So I don't have a notion how to do them but it will be a fun learning experience. lol. Another thing that I'm not so keen on is that I have to use the recommened Polstitches hand dyed farbic. Would it not look as good on a plain white evenweave or maybe a baby blue or some kind of light blue or green maybe? And the other HAED I want to do is another Dona Gelsinger - I love her work. It's All Hallow's Eve. Oh and I'm also planning on doing this one too

It certainly sounds like you've made some great choices!! I love doing Joan Elliott's designs and I imagine that you will too, when you get them started. As for the fabric, that is YOUR choice to make--I rarely ever use the recommended fabric, as I like mine to be just a little different most of the time. Any pale blue or green evenweave should look just amazing--after all, you will be the one stitching it, and yes, even white will look great with most of Joan's designs!
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what fabrics you choose and then, you starting on them!! Happy stitching!! :)

Thanks. I haven't looked fabric wise yet but I'm sure I will have some fun looking. The reason I picked the Summer Fairy is cos there's a lots of blue especially bright blues which is my favourite colours. I need to order the threads. I seen a site offering 200 skiens of DMC for £55 which works out 28p and I think they come winded on a bobbin which is handy.

:applesauce: for the progress you have made on this one. And I love the patterns you have chosen. All Hallows Eve will be fun to stitch. As will the others. I think having a rotation of different projects to switch to is a good idea. Especially if you tend to get bored with one. I probably have gone overboard with too many (and I have 2 ready to get started) but I am never bored with my stitching now and that used to happen to me too. Looking forward to your next updates.

You're making some really rapid progress there, and the colours are blending really well. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't want to risk spoiling the stitching I'd already done by frogging a mistake that no one's going to notice anyway. The mistake just remains my little secret.

You are making great progress on your lovely one and it is good to have something else going to break the seemingly endless stitching in one or two colours.

I am sure you will enjoy JE's Summer Fairy as well as the sampler too, a nice change of pace for you.

Another wee update. I think I'm about a 1/3 of the 2nd page completed. Still slow going. I have done all the dark blues there to be done and now moving onto the lighter blues.

Thanks for the comments so far. I can't wait to start doing the other projects. I have the fabrics. Came thru the post last week. But I'm not sure which two of the fabrics to use for the Summer Fairy? I think the green is too much. LOL. I can post photos here if you want to see them. I also got the blue too. But I think it's too light or too blue.. I'm just waiting to get my threads so I can start one of them. I'm thinking starting the mokey baby cos it's a small project and shouldn't take long to do. A few months I would say. LOL. it's gonna be for a friend of mine. I bought a green aida for the monkey cos I thought it would make the monkey stand out and complement the leaves. But the fabric is awesome cos it got wee glittery bits on it.

It's looking great!! I wouldn't mind pics of fabrics! But cameras never seem to do justice to the true colors of fabric :thinks:

The green and blue is a bit more brighter than in the photos. This is a better representation of the blue and green. I wasn't expecting them to be as blue or as green. Guess it hard to go by the images. Oh the fabrics I got is 28ct Brittney. Hoping it's a good fabric to stitch on. I was gonna go for linen until I read about the slubs. Don't like the sound of that. I'm hoping to get most of my threads this week. The online store I ordered the 200 skeins from is out of stock with some of the colours but if I get most of the threads, I will be starting the new project.

I'm having a hard time trying to find cheap kreinik threads. Most of the sites are selling them for £3. That’s expensive for a wee spool of thread. Maybe one of yous might know where I can get them cheaply in the UK.
