tent direction question

Post by melisabb »

Hi, Everyone!
I'm trying to do background (a white border, on white) in 2 over one tenting on 25ct monaco... I've just started, and I'm doing my regular left-to-right, down-to-up stitch. I've just realized that when I get to the design, which I'm going to do in 1 over 1 full crosses, the "over" stitch will go in the other direction.

I've read that the over stitches should always go in the same direction, so... should I change my tactics? Or does it not matter because they're different stitches and will look different anyway?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I wouldn't worry about it, it gives it a slightly different effect and feel to have the full and half stitches going in different directions.

Unless the instructions state other wise, I would carry on the way you are doing it - as long as YOU are happy with it, then it doesn't matter

It is completely a matter of your own choice. Just because someone "Says" that you should do it one way then it does not mean it is the only way. If you are happy with the work then you can carry on.

That is how I have always done my half stitches when called for in a chart. / because that is usually how it is pictured on the symbol page. Never thought about doing it any other way. I think it looks great that way, but you can do whatever you want as the others said.

Thanks for the advice!
I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, then!
As soon as I get out of the white a bit, I'll start my first SAL post. :D
It may be awhile, though! :? There's a lot of white, and I'm a very slow stitcher.
Thanks again!

Yup - it's whatever works for you. The only issue will be that it may not qualify for competition.

Some people deliberately help it stand out more.
