Has anyone ever used Fray Check if so is it any good and are there any disadvantages of using it???? Thanks

I swear by fray check. I use it for virtually every project I've done so far. Never had any problems from it, but it can sometimes irritate sensitive skin apparently. Never had that problem myself. So just try not to get it on you. Also it can apparently distort the colour of some fabric, but not anything I've stitched on. I think it means if you get it on your clothes. But never had a problem myself.

*nods eagerly* I get it from there and it lasts a fair bit too. It is something I now couldn't do without. I'm always paranoid of things fraying too much. So this just puts my mind at ease.

It's good stuff, the only slight drawback is that it makes the fabric very stiff, but in most uses that is not a problem. But make sure it dries before letting it touch anything else, or before you roll or fold the fabric you have treated we all live and learn

I treat the edges so the bit I'm working on isn't really effected then put it down while I sort out my threads by which time it's usually dry.

Well you could always sew the edges, but I think really you'll be ok if you use it then put it on the table while you sort your threads.

I can't remember what it stuck to, I have a feeling it was the back of the chair, nothing serious , but if it had touched another piece of fabric it may have been a pain to separate.
I used it to secure the back of single french knots in my Sacred Connection project, I then cut loads of them out as I thought there were too many, it was like very strong wire to cut through.
It did alter the colour of the fabric very slightly as well.
It is easy to control Sammy, just don't squeeze too hard

I don't think it can stick to the table It certainly doesn't to mine...works...or my tablet Does leave some residue which is fun to peel off but doesn't stick. It's basically a fabric glue. It sticks fabric to fabric and not much else.

I know I'm late joining in on this thread, but I used to use Fray check faithfully. Of course I only used Aida at that time so I haven't tried it on evenweave, but I can't think of any reason it would be different. Now I just zig azg stitch with my new sewing machine. It makes for a nice edge. If not for the machine I would still be using the Fray check.
