OT:Stay safe in the US Northeast

Post by rcperryls »

Hope the blizzard goes by with little damage. Thinking about you. We need a week or so with no one on the forum facing, going through, or recovering from a weather system gone nuts! I guess that is what happens when you span the globe like we do.

Oh gosh it is absolutely brutal outside. It looks like we have nearly a foot of snow already and it's still coming down hard. I'm so glad we did shopping last night so we don't have to go out in this. I hope everyone stays safe and warm during this storm.

Adding my wishes for everyone to stay safe and with no power failures so that you can stay indoors warm and with your stitching in hand while you ride out the storm.
And I promise I will stop griping about all the rain we are having here in Vancouver this winter as it really is not a hardship.

Snow is just not stopping. Have a half frozen pidgeon on my balcony, huddling in the corner. Don't feel sorry for the winged rat :x , I have to clean up all their poop. Some idiot decided to feed the damn things.

I was able to get safely to and from work on Friday, but we didn't get the worst part of the storm. Grand total of maybe a foot to a foot and a half (30-45cm). We're lucky though, Boston got pretty much closed down after almost 3 feet down there!

Hi all,
Here in NH we received 28+ inches of snow, Boston + 24, Portland = 31 and the clear winner was New Haven, CT with 40! Waaahooooo....tons of stitching time :) :) :)

Glad to hear from those of you up in the NE. Just wondering if anyone has heard from Faith (nachstenliebe)? She is in Connecticut, but I'm not sure where. I had also heard on the news that Connecticut was the worst hit state.

Yes I am in Connecticut! We got SLAMMED.. There's almost 3 feet out there, which is really unheard of being right along the coast... I usually have a friend come and shovel my yard but for the first two days the roads were closed... So I was shoveling my own way out... Got 3/4ths of the way when my father in law was able to make it over and he got my snow blower working and everything!
I had no cable and with my data could only get facebook to work.. for some reason the browser wouldn't load..
Kids are still out of school since a lot of the lesser used roads are still unsafe for travel.. It's been an adventure to say the least

I am also glad everyone is safe and warm. I remember those kinds of blizzards in Chicago and Wisconsin and why I never complain when it is god awful hot here in Charleston. I'll bet it is awful pretty though. At least for a while. I expect there are lots of snow people, forts and snow angels around. Children and snow go together.
