Son "helped" mama by cutting kit thread!

Post by elementaryteacher77 »

My dear, sweet, precious, helpful, 3 year old, love of my life little boy cut my "A Marriage is..." kit thread!! He said he just wanted to help me because he loves me and that he likes to help mama because he's my big helper! Yes, it was hard to fuss at him after hearing WHY he cut it!!

HOWEVER, I am now getting nervous that I'm not going to have enough to finish. I have already checked my DMC threads and I don't have anything that is really a close match. The one part of thread that was attached to my organizer is long enough to use, but I can only get about a dozen or so stitches from each thread piece. (Which, BTW, is REALLY irritating to someone who HATES starting and finishing threads!!) Soooo, what do I do?

The picture on the left is mine pulled in to see the color...that darker green that makes a triangle at the top is the color in question. The farther it goes down, the less it is used and you can see how the colors are just random to simulate waves on the beach in the finished picture.

oh dear... I feel your pain!!
does the kit provide DMC correspondence numbers? if not maybe the best thing to do is to substitute it with the DMC color that fit better with all the other on that part of the project... re-threading every 12 crosses would kill me as well!!

serinade and crafterglen...Okay, well I'm hoping y'all are right and that they think it is a "precious" little story! I contacted them through their website (janlynn.com) and asked how to get more thread. :beg: Hopefully they'll get back with me soon! :x: :x: :x:

oriettait...they had numbers, but my DMC threads weren't even close. It doesn't say if they are DMC, anchor, or anything, there's just a number. I checked all my DMC threads and none of them are really a close match! :(

Glad to hear you got it sorted and that they're sending you new floss.

What a cute, if frustrating story.

 *hurries off to check floss and scissors very definitely hidden from her 2 year old*

Thank goodness they will replace it for you. Stitching with those short lengths would drive me batty too and it is a lovely piece that deserves to be finished.

That is great, most companies do try to help if they can, so happy your story turned out well and your little one is out of the bad books! Do send the company a photo of your finished piece to know you did appreciate them, you never know it helps to keep on the right side of them!

Well the thread arrived today! I was very excited when I got the letter. However, the colors don't match! They are close, but it an obvious difference...now what?

Since it is the darker green (am I correct) which is used for the waves, does it make a significant change to the piece? If it does, then is there any way that you can do one strand of that color and add a strand of a thread that is close to it and kind of mute that color. (Is what you received lighter or darker than the original or just different?) I hope I'm making some sense here. If you have to finish a block of that color that you started but hadn't finished you might have to have mr :ribbit: over and then restitch. :( Someone else may have an easier suggestion. :x:
