Is there a 'rule of thumb'?

Post by thegrindre »

Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a 'rule of thumb' as to how much dead space or border area that should be left when cross stitching a chart or creating one from scratch?
I realize that there are a bazillion ways to finish off a pattern with frames and everything else but, is there a 'rule of thumb' as to how much in general?

Thank you,
Mr. Rick

I agree with Diana and say if you are pleased with it then that is enough........however most pieces will have from 2-3 inches space from the stitching to the edge. And I believe that framers prefer 3 inches to work with.
