My goodness, it actually works!

So, I hate using hoops. I can never get the fabric evenly taut in every direction, and I dislike the shape. So I got a millenium frame for my bigger pieces but my smaller pieces won't fit on there, so I broke down and got a set each of 6" and 8" qsnaps since everyone's raved about how tight they hold the fabric.

I put the fabric in one and while I got it tight and it was better than the hoop I was using, it just didn't stay that way, and I was horribly disappointed. But I figured I'd just have to suck it up and deal with it - nothing was going to compare to what I got used to with my millenium frame.

Then yesterday, I had to move my qsnap for the first time, and since the snap would be going over a completed portion of my work, I grabbed the first scrap frabric I could fine - a thick piece of fleece, and cut rectangles to go between the snaps and frame.

Suddenly, the qsnaps are a completely different beast - my fabric is held TIGHT in them and even after a couple of hours of stitching, everything is still night and taut. I'm impressed! Who would have thought that such a simple thing as some fleece could make such a huge difference??

I highly recommend anyone who's using qsnaps and isn't completely satisfied with them to give this a try - not just to protect completed stitches, but also to help hold your fabric tighter. I was amazed by the difference that it made!

I use cheap crafting felt lol, it's what I had on hand and it actually does a great job of keeping the q-snaps tight. I'm pretty happy with the felt too.

I use craft felt with mine and it makes a huge difference! I definitely recommend it.

Good tip! For anyone contemplating trying Q-Snaps, I'd recommend genuine Q-Snaps over generic ones or off-brand ones as the real ones are so much better.

And just a tip, if your clamp pieces don't seem to hold as tightly as they used to, run them through the dishwasher on the top rack. They'll tighten right back up.

I discovered this exact tip when I moved mine and used some cloth to cover the worked stitches also....but after getting it on so tight and nice to stitch, is there a trick to getting them back off easily? lol I've tried sliding them and prying them with my fingers and wonder if I will ever be able to get them back off again...lol.

Thank you- that works great! Goodness me, now that you say that, it seems rather obvious, don't know why I didn't think to try that.
