This is looking great! :applesauce: I like the way the first wave looked like...HAED really does it with the color shades!

Happy stitching!

Looks super. Breaking a needle was it an older one? May just have been wearing out.

Thanks for all your comments :D
It was a size 26 gold needle! I bought a tube of 20 especially for this project so it was brand new! I think it is where the stitching is so dense and I left some odd stitches in the middle until last!Ouchy c-f luckily it missed my finger

I agree! the colours look so similar when im working on it that i think it would be unoticeable(sp?) but when I stand back at the end of a session I can see that all those shades were neccessary after all!!

They are Piecemakers size 28's, they are very slim, the points are tapered to a fine point, but not as sharp as a sewing needle, and a lot tougher than most needles I have used. I love them!

Yes I'll second the piecemakers (even though I just started using them :) ) I got myself some when I wanted to try a 25ct evenweave (before I go onto a HAED) and haven't tried the 28s yet but find a 26 works just as well.

I must admit beyond which size to use I don't know much about needles so I've never heard of piecemakers before!!

What sort of things do you get from the stash club Jilly? Is it worth it? I was looking at their stash and fabric clubs awhile ago, but wondered how good they were.

It was quite a mixture, unusual threads, small kits, fraycheck, plastic canvas, the needles, just like a lucky dip really :D
Like most things, some months the items were not my cup of tea, but very often I knew a relative that would like them once I had stitched them.
I think I would maybe try the bi-monthly one unless you are very rich, just to see if it was for you, I did like it when the threads came, the kits were often too cutesy for my taste.

That's really useful, Jilly -- I love Tandem Cottage and had read about their stash club but wasn't sure if it was my sort of thing. I still don't, really, but at least I know more about it now :-)! I think it may work out a bit too expensive, though, as i tend not to do kits.

Yes, it does make for very subtle effects even if you don't notice them while you're working on them -- worth the effort, isn't it? (even though it may not seem so at the time... the very lightest pink on my unicorn initially seemed to blend in so well with the cream as to be completely invisible, and yet it turned out to make the head and neck look "shaped" rather than flat and cartoony)

Hmm, yes, I think it will work out too expensive for me as well, but like Mabel says, it's good to know about these things.
