The quilt is awe inspiring!! So much work has gone into it! As for quilting over the angels, NO!!! How could anyone do that??? Looking forward to seeing it finished.
How is your mouth doing now? And your poor finger?

Mouth feels just fine. Go for my one month check on the 2nd. And no lasting problems on the sting. So I think I am fine. Just hope no new troubles perk up.

Your quilt top is absolutely gorgeous! A lot of time and love must have gone into that! The bag is fabulous too, and the pink elephant made me grin...so sweet, does he have a name?
I would quilt it just as you suggest, by going around the angels....that seems the Most Logical approach to me!! Why disguise your stitching my doing quilt stitches over the design?
I have got the backing all ready. She decided to go with 4 different fabrics so I have the 4 stitched together.
Then the batting and quilt top pinned together

And this is the middle section I am starting on. Handquilting heaven.......or hell.

what a wonderful heirloom for your daughter.
i recently finished my first ever quilt and it would make every professional quilter turn in their graves, but i don't care - it was made with love and the recipient and her family love it and havent noticed the flaws.
as others have said, do it your way - your daughter isnt going to care how the quilting was done, shes going to remember talking with you while you stitched, or the trip to choose the backing fabric - the stuff memories are made of.
Rose that is looking awesome and what a fabulous frame that is for doing the quilting in. I have a large - 14" - wooden hoop I use for quilting. It is going to be awesome when it is all done.
Rach - I totally agree, its the memories that count plus the fact that mum/grandmother/aunt/ etc made it for ME. Good on you for giving it a go.
