I cry when I see you guys talking about skeins costing .30c.

A skein here is anywhere between $1.70 and $2.00 (Aud). I can and do order from overseas but then you are hit with shipping costs and a wait for them to get here ... not to mention you are letting the LNS's down.

I'm working on getting a full set - because I live in a small town that has no source for floss other than walmart, so when ever I am visiting an area that has a joanns, I check for sales and coupons, and if there is anything, I'll go stock up on some of the colors that are still missing in my set. I can't afford to get them all at once, but I can spend $10 - $20 at a time to fill in the holes in my stash. I have an app on my tablet that lists the colors I have and lets me make a shopping list of the colors I need, so I use that to go by.

I find it frustrating when I want to start working on a piece and only have about half the colors - so getting a full set will make my life much much easier.

Same here, my 'local' LNS - a four hour round trip- has DMC at € 2 and the colour range is limited, but to be fair it's more a quilting / knitting shop.

Awe! I feel bad for everyone who has to pay more for DMC... that stinks! It gets to be an expensive hobby sometimes.

I just buy whatever I need to kit up new projects, I currently have 3 boxes, the 3rd is just half full, so I think I have a little under half the set. Sticker shock isn't so bad when you're only buying a few at a time. :)

I've always used Anchor threads, and they're not available here in France!!! :tantrum: But as I started my collection Before we came here it's no longer economic to change brands. So I'm forced to buy on-line and get them shipped Or wait until I'm in the UK or a friend is coming out to visit.
I keep feeling tempted to change , but when I look at the cost of a set of DMC....... I resist!!!
The colours etc are mostly the same, so what the heck!!!
