Hello from Australia!

Post by Hugglebunny »

Hi!

My name's Joanna and I'm from Australia :)

I love cross stitching in my spare time and buying vintage kits from ebay :).

Currently I am working on a kit by Elsa Williams called the beaded marriage sampler. It is very beautiful but very big and detailed. I am trying to work my way up to starting my mammoth cross stitch kit by permin of copenhagen called waterflowers. When it is completed the design will be 1 metre by 1 metre!! I am hoping it will end up being a family heirloom :)

I look forward to meeting you all :)

Jo :)

 Hello Joanna and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! I'm so glad that you found us.
I hope that you will post pictures of your projects. We love pictures and a beaded marriage sampler sounds lovely. Your mammoth cross stitch definitely sounds like a mammoth at that size. I'm sure it will be an heirloom to be treasured for years. Looking forward to getting to know you too!

Hello Joanna, welcome from Newcastle, NSW. I haven't stitched anything that large, the biggest I have done was a bell pull for a friends stairway. It measured 10ft x 1ft. Thinking about it that is probably about the same surface measurement. All I know is that it took a long time to stitch !! Where in Australia are you?

Hi Athalie :) I am from Canberra :)

Your bell pull sounds fantastic :) I am a bit nervous about starting the big one, it seems a little daunting! I am planning on taking progress shots of it as I start stitching it so as to encourage me that I have actually made some progress each time I stitch.

Do you have any tips on stitching a big project?

Jo

Just the usual advice, Joanna, take it one stitch at a time. I usually kept a couple of ornaments on the go while I was stitching, just to take a break from time to time.
