Re: Perftangel's SAL - Updated 24 Jan (pg 7)

Started a new LHN design. Some of you might remember when I started this on a blue-ish linen. Yeah, it was terrible. I hated stitching on that so I totally stopped, but here's my new start and I'm already much further along than I was on the blue.

Because I have color issues, I changed both scarves to Crescent Colors Wild Berries and Weeks Ivy and I changed the handle on the shovel & the stick arms to Weeks Mocha. There's a big tree on the right that I was also thinking about changing to Weeks Mocha, but I don't know how it would look with the variegated thread... so I'm heading to the store to buy some similar colors to the Mocha and use that. I needed some more 712 for the second snowman anyway. :)

Oh and I totally got some Nutella on it. I don't think you can tell, can you see where it is?

:applesauce: :applesauce: Lovely new start. Sounds like this one is definitely a lot more fun for you to stitch than the one on the linen. I can't see any spots or dark spots on the fabric. I do love the colors you are using. It has a very warm and cozy feeling , despite being about snowmen.

I'm glad you're enjoying this one; it looks great. (And I don't see any traces of Nutella...good thing you changed the fabric color, huh?)

The Nutella totally got on the white floss of the snowman, about five rows up from the bottom. :( I swear I washed my hands, but since none of you noticed it, I'm not too broken up over it. :D

I was at Micheal's and found these super cute frames for $2. I bought a heart shaped one, but this was slightly too large for it, but it looks pretty great in this one instead!

Image

I have 4 other frames in which to put things too... Hmmm!

Here's my slightly blurry floss toss for Glendon Place's Tiramisu:

Image

I did actually start last night (I needed something to keep my mind off the following paragraph) but you really can't see anything impressive yet. I'm sure I will update soon! I still have to finish the small amount of white left on my LHN "Snow in Love ornament" but I really wanted a new start. It's on Crafty Kitten's Peach Sorbet (or something with a really similar name). It's super pretty fabric and I"m glad I went for her suggestion!

Sad news ahead:

My mom called me last night and let me know that she had taken my cat to the vet over the weekend because the two cats they have (one is mine, one is my mom's, we had a third but he passed away like 7-8 years ago) had gotten into it and my cat's eye was looking bad. My mom assumed it was because of the fight they had gotten into but the vet had a different opinion. He thinks that she has cancer. There is a cancer treatment center for cats in my city, but she's 14 years old and the vet didn't think she would have a very good chance to make it through the treatment (it's on her face). The vet gave us some eye drops and antibiotics for her for now.

I got her in the 8th grade (13 years ago) and I had left her at my parents' house when I moved in with my husband because he already had a cat and I was afraid with her advanced age, she wouldn't adjust well to the new surroundings and a new cat (even though my husband's cat is the chillest cat ever, it probably would have been fine). I'm getting all weepy writing this. I hate losing pets!

2014 has not been kind to us so far. My husband's grandmother passed away last month, one of his good friends has an inoperable brain tumor (he just turned 30), then while on the phone with another friend about the brain tumor friend he told us that his mother has stage 4 stomach cancer and is having issues with the chemo and has to scale back on it... I hate to wish away time, but I want 2015 to hurry up... or restart 2014 please. The weather here isn't helping anything. I love the winter, but this one has been much too harsh for my liking and I'm getting depressed without seeing the sun in months.

   Oh, this is one those times that I had magic words to make everyone safe and healthy. I understand, as many of us do, the grief that comes when a pet crosses over to the Rainbow Bridge. Sounds like your kitty has had a full and happy life, but knowing that doesn't take away the sadness. And then with all the other illnesses of people you know, as well as the passing of your DH's grandmother I can understand why 2014 hasn't been a favorite year so far. Hopefully, that is all the bad news you will have this year. Sending you lots of positive thoughts and prayers that starting in March, 2014 will have a better middle and end than it has had for you up to now.
