A fractal is actually defined based on repeating statistical characteristics, and doesn't always look like a repeating pattern. Some examples from nature include lightning, snowflakes, shorelines, trees and leaves, even broccoli.

From casual observance, this one looks like the actual leafy design displays fractal qualities, and it's just set against a pretty background. :)
Wow, thank you for sharing your nerdiness with us! I definitely learned something there and it does explain things. :D I'll never look at the broccoli on my plate in the same way again either! :lol:

Some update pictures at last! I can't believe the last time I worked on this was last June!

Anyway, I finished the last page on the row...

While I was stitching all that purple, navy blue and black I got bored, so I kept switching with the first couple of pages of the next row for a bit of interest...

I'm going to carry on with this design for a bit longer, it's working up really fast! :D
