Re: Just thought you'd like to see...
That's gorgeous! I love lace shawls, and they're perfect summer knitting indeed! What yarn did you use? There's just a slight variation in the colors that adds depth to it, but not so much that it detracts from the pattern. Someone did just the right thing on the dyeing job there.
Question for you since you said your yarn was so slippery on your needles - what were the needles you were using made of? I usually like to knit lace on metal needles - preferably Addi Turbos or my KnitPick's nickel circular needles, but for a slippery yarn like silk, I'd switch to wooden needles, even going as far as bamboo if the yarn is super slippery. Bamboo needles, even the highly polished ones are much more 'grippy' with the yarn so it helps a lot in keeping things from sliding all over the place.
As for knitting with merino - there's a product you can get, I think it applies like a lotion that forms an invisible barrier between your hand and the wool, almost like wearing gloves, that a lot of people I know that are allergic to wool but want or need to knit with it for some reason use. I don't know what it's called off hand, but searching for liquid gloves and wool allergy or similar keywords would probably find it.

That's beautiful, and looks great on you too. You have done a wonderful job. Sounds like a pain to work with but well worth the effort.

As a 17 year old with high ambitions for her yarn and needle crafts, this gives me so much hope and inspiration. (: Bravo.

Another late poster,
but the shawl is just great.
What a wonderful picture you have put up. Sorry you have troubles with yarn, I do too & cannot use pure wool. The concentration on that shawl pattern must have been intense but very well done on the finish.
