He is gorgeous Laura and what an infectious grin that is. He sure is growing fast that is for sure. One day you will have all the time in the world to stitch so enjoy this time with Master Erik as it passes so quickly in the schemes of life.

I completely understand about the mixed emotions. I'm a stay at home mum and my husband works abroad in Brazil. While he is away I do everything by myself and when my girls were babies I used to long for some time to myself, an hour to myself or a lie in. It was exhausting, still is but for different reasons now. Then when he came home, I would get that or I would go out to lunch with my sisters for a few hours and I all I could think about was them and couldn't wait to get back to them. I would also feel guilty for leaving the with my husband because he's been away working and I was leaving him to look after them. Of course now with the benefit of hindsight he probably loved it and it was good for them To have some time together without me esp as he works away and they need that bonding time!
Believe me when I say it does get easier. It's the hardest job in the world being a mum!!

He is totally adorable, Laura!! What a beautiful smile! I'm so glad you checked in and let us know how y'all are doing. There will be plenty of time for stitching later, but even though you don't have time to stitch now, please check in with us now and then to let us know how you and your family are. It is sooo good to hear from you!

Oh, I'm so glad to hear from you. I've been thinking about you and was going to PM, so thanks for the update. He's growing so fast and is so adorable. I'll echo what others have said; enjoy the time with him because he'll grow so fast, soon you'll be sending him off to college and wondering where the time went. I know it doesn't seem like it on those days when he might not be cooperating with you, or when he needs attention and the house needs cleaning, but it's true. Turn around and he's grown with a family of his own.
As for stitching, time will come for that. I think I've told you before that when my son was little, I had small WIP's to take with me...Christmas ornament size. When I had him at lessons or other activities, I could grab my little baggie from my tote and get in a few stitches. As he got older and his activities lasted longer, I'd drag along my larger WIP's. It'll all work out, trust me. And until you can figure our your own stitching-time tricks, I hope you'll keep checking in and stitching vicariously through us.

I absolutely agree!!! Your son is just as precious as can be!!! It's so nice to hear from you and like so many others have said, you'll find time for stitching later, enjoy your precious one while you can. They tend to grow up way too fast!!

OMG!!! This makes me realise just how long its been since I've had a proper catch up on the forum.
He is so adorable.
I know what you mean about stitching time, but it does come back I promise. My little one has just turned 4 and when she was about the same age as your little one I set a routine that involved her going to bed at 7.30pm, it was about the time that I returned to work and needed to rejig the routine. We were very lucky and she slept through from about 3 months.
Anyway I had a rule that if the housework jobs etc weren't done by 8.30pm then they could wait!!! After then I would pull out my stitching, yes some days I was so tired I would just sit and look and it, but some days I would get some stitches in and that few hours stitching helped me retain my sanity..... ish!!!!
Pick something you'd like to stitch for him, either for his bedroom wall or something like that. Helps you feel less guilty that you should be doing something else and then alternate that with some of your stitching.
I would have a habit of leaving my stitching out on the sofa, and when I brought little one down in the morning put her to sit next to it while I put it away. She soon learnt that it was mummies pretty colours and would just help me put them away. It meant that she has got used to it being around but not being a toy. Now on rainy days when we just curl up in front of the tv or something I am able to stitch a little and have gotten into the habit of when I know that the following day will be a quiet at home day I make sure that i have lots of filling in to do in single colours, or I get one of my one colour projects out ready.
Some days she'll even help pull the needle through!!!! Shes definitely a future stitcher and I already have the project ready for when she decides she wants her own.

Has it really been this long? I'm sorry I don't stop by more often and I sure miss it!
Erik is 21 months today! Yikes! Has it really been almost 2 years since I had regular stitchy time? We're doing pretty good, just busy busy busy. We bought our first home 2 months ago so that has kept me occupied the past few months with the search and the move and all that. We do love our new house though. I'll post pics when I can.
And here's Erik as of last month!

to hear from you again. I can't believe how absolutely adorable Eric is!! That look on his face is way too cute. I've seen that a lot when one of my grandson's was his age. Meant he had either gotten away with something or was planning on an adventure that was probably not a good idea. Congrats on your house. That, besides an active toddler, is plenty of work. Stay in touch as much as you can and know that we miss you too!

It's so good to see you and that adorable Erik. Those eyes!!! Congratulations on your house - moving is not a lot of fun, but moving into your own place is (but a lot of work).
I do hope you'll be able to get some stitching time in soon and in the meantime, keep in touch. We miss you!

Aaaww, your son is adorable. Glad you like your new home, always a hectic time for anyone let alone a mum to a youngster. They keep you busy enough anyway. Thank you for sharing & look forward to hearing from you again.
Goodness how time flies by and Erik is growing up too. Lovely to catch up on all your news and hopefully once you are well and truly settled in your new home (congratulations on that btw) you will hopefully be able to carve out some stitchy time too.
