Re: And now for something completely different
Right now I'm struggling with something completely different, as well as trying to post a pic....
Ships in bottles. Made lots in the past, and am now doing a special one for a friend - his great grandfather served on this particular vessel, so quite significant. But, not going well, so throw it across the room and start again
(
) I jest. 50 hours of work cannot be wasted.

Try recovering the photo in Tinypics. I can't tell if this is what you did, but choose the 2nd option of the four available, then paste it into the forum. (I always forget which of the choices to make -- comes of posting on a couple of forums [fora?]... and it's really aggravating!)
Re: And now for something completely different
I go onto tinypics, get rid of the irritating pop up ads, then select file to upload. Click the upload button, sometimes starts straight away, sometimes requests me to put in a security answer.Either way the picture appears in the window, along with a selection of codes, including one for posting on fora. I copy this, but it does not appear when I try to paste into my message. Even if I write out the code and manually type it in, it still doesn't work. The MOST irritating bit is that it has worked twice, why not now, when I have lots of brilliant, fascinating pics to post?
including the one I'm trying to do right now, of a 1/12th scale modelmaker's workshop which got Best in Show at an exhibition recently.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Re: And now for something completely different

Oh gosh, has this finally worked?
YES!!!!
This is 1/12th scale model workshop made during breaks from stitching - it did actually win "Best in Show" cup at the local Bank Holiday exhibition. Big fish in small pond...

How I spend my leisure time......
BTW, all the tiny tools do actually work, and the chess table drawer is dovetailed.
I will try to post a front-on view.

Very cool. So rather than making me do the math and/or guess, can you give me a frame of reference so I know how big/small this is? For example, how big is that chess table?

Ohh this is marvelous! Congratulations on your win, you deserve it! I used to do dollhouse miniatures, so I know the work that went into this. Cross stitching took over and I don't do the miniatures anymore but have some of them still.
Did you make everything in the room? I love the tools and the ship, and the table...well, everything.
Debby, 1/12th scale is 1 inch = 1 foot so if you imagine a 6 foot male standing next to that table, he would be 6 inches tall. That's the best I can do. When I did miniatures, I have a US penny that I glued on it's edge onto a shirt button & stood it next to everything I took a pic of so you could see how big....or I should say how tiny, everything was...or I would make sure my finger was in the pic.

Really awesome work. I have watched others work on these small scale rooms and I am always in awe.

How beautiful. You certainly deserved your rosette!

Re: And now for something completely different
Yes,the scale is 1 inch to 1 foot, so the chess table is approx 2 inches high. I do usually put a coin or a match in the picture to give an idea of size - I am now off to do the last bit of (madhouse) shopping, but will try to post some more pics later.
And yes, I made everything ,I estimate it all took in excess of 500 hours.
