Hello hello!

Post by mfarmer »

Saying hello from Central Washington! I'm a mom to a 1 1/2 year old boy and getting ready for #2 coming June. Normally I'm a clothing seamstress in my free time, but I'm finding this pregnancy is really wearing me out and cross-stitching is a nice sit-and-enjoy hobby (as long as you can keep the scissors away from the toddler). As a seamstress there is a lot of online support, so I'm just looking for that same sort of thing for cross-stitching!

 Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! You have found a great hobby that is a wonderful way of relaxing and creating something beautiful at the same time. And you have most definitely found the best place to get support, encouragement and tons of information about cross stitching! If you have a question, ask it. Someone here will either know the answer or have a good idea as to where to go to find the answer. Our Tips and Tricks forum and Glossary thread are full of all kinds of information. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hello from Colorado and welcome to the forum. This is THE place if you're looking for support, answers to questions, new ideas, etc. Be warned, however, that there are several enablers here. I used to be a one WIP at a time stitcher...not any longer. I hope you'll share pictures of what you're working on.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words! My grandma taught me how to cross-stitch when I was a girl and I've done random projects growing up (I really need to dig them up and take pictures). My taste tends to be large projects and I'm not a fast stitcher so I don't have too many projects in the works.

Im wondering where I should be posting pictures of completed work? It seems like some people do the general board and some do the stitch-along.

Generally, we post pictures of our work in the S-A-L section. You can do one thread for each project (that is what I typically do) or have one thread covering all your projects (many members do this). It is about what is most comfortable for you. Or a little of both. Big projects might have their own thread, but smaller and mini projects could be grouped together. We are very flexible. What is most important is that you post pictures so we can enjoy looking at them!

Welcome to the forum from the West of Scotland! You've found the right place if you're looking for real support and virtual stitching pals. Might I also point out that we boast a pub (the Stash & Grab) and, for those desperate times, St Cross Stitcher's Hospital? Both staffed by personnel who understand the efficacy of (virtual) hot chocolate, good lighting, and comfortable pillows. :king: :bandaid: :wine:
