I suppose it would have been more polite to introduce myself before going barreling through you home. But,better late than never!
I'm from Canada. Been stitching for a lot of years. Mostly I do Christmas projects. This is my most recent finish.
I really should have made that one for me.
I also recently started quilting. Two years ago when my husband and I both quit smoking, he used a patch and I used bribery. For every month I didn't smoke, I would buy myself quilting equipment. This week I finished my first denim rag quilt. It was supposed to be for me, but my son wanted it, so it's his. I'm going to make another for myself now.
Congratulation's on quitting smoking!! I am 93 days in, so I understand bribery! I just am stitching like crazy, especially when I get a crazy mad caller at work ... lol ... hope you post pictures of the quilt you finished
So many HAEDs I couldn't possibly list them all. Current favorites are Dragon Kin, Sea Unicorns (QS), April Fairy, What's This, Dahlia, and so many starts going on. Love to cross stitch! Find me on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/brekkana.kultiras
WOW That quilt is amazing. Love it and no wonder your son wanted it. Dear Mum for giving up her quilt. Hope you get yours made soon though, ready for next winter perhaps?
that stocking, is unusual, gorgeous beautifully stitched and fabulously finished.
Oh yes Welcome to the forum from drying out Brisbane. Love the idea of bribery and glad it worked for you.

Hello & welcome to the forum. The Christmas stocking is beautiful & quilt lovely too. Hope you enjoy making next one for yourself & look forward to seeing photos of its progress.
Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! Great quilt! And you are definitely a good mom for giving that one away. The stocking is beautiful! I love that design. Looking forward to seeing what you are working on now.
I agree with the others that self bribery is the way to do things. Stitching not only helped me to stop smoking, but helps me to stick to my Weight Watcher's program. (I still manage to cheat, but not quite as much). We love to give each other encouragement so if you need help and support through any hard spots, let us know.

Stitching is not helping with my weight. I just buy stuff that's not messy and I can pop in my mouth (like jelly beans). When I find something yummy, not messy, and Doesn't contain my allergens, I somehow feel I deserve a treat for finding it.
I quit smoking July 1991 but i would never recommend my method. I suffered spinal rib and brain injuries in a motor vehicle crash (I will never refer to it as an accident as running a stop sign, as the other driver did, is NO accident). As a result i was in a comma for 10 weeks. I had always embroidered but did struggle as I rejoined the world but, in rehab I was introduced to quilting which was very much in it's infancy here in New Zealand. My first quilts were made using the fabric most accessable - poly cotton ! Nearly had quilting knocked out of me when the "Quilt Police" first saw my work. Those quilts are still in use but after faltering a little after that set back I kept going. With all my crafty activities it is probably evident i don't waste a lot of time on housework but because of my problems with mobility I have a wonderful helper for that.
I know what you mean about the "Quilt Police" Elizabeth - I too have struck them. Fortunately I found a very caring, helpful, encouraging group of quilters when I first moved to Melbourne from Christchurch (NZ). I only do a little bit of hand quilting now on small things, Just can't stand for too long.
