Hi, new here

Post by medtran49 »

I've been doing all kinds of needlework for 40+ years, crocheting, needlepoint, cross stitch, petit point, embroidery. Never could learn how to knit though. I found your forum when I was looking for something Dr. Who related. My oldest granddaughter has expressed interest in learning how to cross stitch and since she loves Dr. Who thought we could start with something related to that.

My projects for the last couple of years include:

Finished Petit point 40 count/sq inch Cluny Hearing tapestry for a mini castle that is yet to be built
Petit point 25 count /sq inch Aubusson style rug for a dollhouse
3 Edgar Allen Poe quotes, "Quoth the Raven Nevermore," "Double, double, toil and trouble," and "Something Witchy this way comes." All by La D Da and for my daughter
Witch's Halloween Checklist sampler by CherryWood Designs for my daughter
Counting Bats sampler by Just Nan for my daughter
Dolphin "When life gives you troubles, blow bubbles" sampler for my oldest granddaughter
A couple of crochet baby afghans for gifts

WIP
Sampler off of Etsy of a little girl riding an alligator with the words "Ponies are for Wimps!" on bottom for youngest granddaughter
PP 40 count Heriz style rug

Future project
Lady Hera by Miribilia for me

 Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! The projects you have done sound beautiful and I hope that you will post pictures for us to see and admire them. Several members are involved in a number of crafts or have moved to cross stitching after years with another craft. (I crocheted a lot until discovering cross stitch). We do have a number of Dr Who fans and several are or have stitched or are planning to stitch projects with that theme. The extend from small projects to large ones like Van Gogh's Starry Night with Tardis. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi, from Indiana! Welcome. So many of us love Doctor Who. I've seen lots of pics online of people stitching while watching the Doctor. It seems to be trendy. Do share pics of your own projects. We love to see them.

 Hi and Welcome from me too, its great to have you along. You certainly have been busy with a variety of projects of recent times.
Good on you for teaching your grand daughter to stitch and I am sure she will enjoy her Dr Who project.
I was delighted to see you have a future project lined up just for you. It is so easy to get busy with things for others and not do something we want just for us. :D

Thanks all, I'll have to find some of my pics. I don't think I took any of those for my daughter and oldest g-daughter though.

Faith, the youngest g-daughter is a tomboy thru and thru, other than the fact that she loves to wear twirly skirts, otherwise all tomboy, so she has to wear shorts under her skirts so she doesn't "treat" everybody to an eyeful. There were 2 options for the saying, the other one was "Ponies are for p....", I'll give you a hint, it's another word for kitty cats. My daughter and I had a laugh about that, could just imagine her going to school and telling her teacher and friends about the picture grandma made for her and using that word. Personally, I can't imagine even offering that word as an option since it's obviously for a child but whatever floats some people's boats I guess.
