Happy World Embroidery Day!

Post by Garnet »

Happy World Embroidery Day to all my fellow stitchers!

I only came across this when it popped into my my inbox today.

I hope it's okay to post this link

You can download the Manifesto in various languages, I particularly like this sentence from the Manifesto:

"Make 30th July a day filled with creativity for the sake of Peace, Freedom and Equality.”

While I didn't know of it, I did my bit yesterday. My FIL had a long but not terribly serious skin cancer removal op under local anaesthetic, and while he was doing that, I worked on my 'Luz' project (latest progress here: http://www.crossstitchforum.com/viewtop ... &start=161). One of the nurses (East European, possibly Polish, I should know more , wish I knew more.) saw what I was doing and asked to see my 'Gobelain'. Knowing that the Gobelain factory, during the reign of Louis XIV, produced possibly the most stunning tapestries ever, I was quite chuffed. Anyway she then grabbed a few other nurses and we spent a good few minutes talking about cross stitch & embroidery.

Regards,

Richard
