Textile Fair at Compton Verney

Post by Mabel Figworthy »

I was booked in for an open day (well, the 2pm slot) at the Rugby branch of the Royal School of Needlework for more information about their Certificate and Diploma, and then a stitching friend said she'd got a spare ticket for the Textile Fair at Compton Verney and would I like to come? Dilemma. I said no I couldn't as I was booked in. Had another think.

The RSN event will be interesting, but to be honest the likelihood of my doing the Certificate, let alone the Diploma, are minimal, unless someone leaves me a good-sized legacy when I've retired. But the Textile Fair sounded really interesting, with lots of embroidery on display and several mini workshops and the house itself is said to bevery interesting too, and anyway a day with a friend is always enjoyable!

So I called my friend to see if she'd found someone for the ticket yet, and she had, but she had a second one, so now I'm going to Compton Verney this Saturday     - and I think my friend will be treated to a cream tea!

I think it's more people exhibiting than selling - at least, they'll be selling completed embroideries only I think, not materials. But I'm looking forward to doing mini workshops!
