anyone looking for a cross-stitching snail mail penfriend?

Post by kaliii »

Hi there! Is anyone looking for a cross-stitching (snail mail!) penfriend, just like me. I like this forum, but much more than being online and writing on a keyboard I like a pen and paper. (I don't enjoy emails very much, sorry...)
I'd love to keep the communication snail-mail - we could send pictures, cross-stitch knowledge, brochures, etc by letter.

Does anyone share this feeling?

If yes, this is something about myself:
My name's Kristina, mother of two, I'm in my late 30s, living in Germany. I love cross-stitch, and in general all kinds of almost-lost arts. But cross-stitch is the one I do practice. Then I have a garden, which I love, and spend a lot of time in, from springtime onwards. That's when stitching becomes less.
What else? I love the outdoors, water, the beautiful little piece of land we live on (it's close to Denmark), travelling (especially to Eastern Europe). I love a good cup of coffee, a chilled-out day at the beach, a cold beer on a summer's evening, creating things with my hands, I love dogs and chickens, too, and would keep them if life wasn't so busy.

If this speaks to you, drop me a pm, please. I'd love to write letters about almost anything, but also about cross-stitching of course. I love discovering new and old things in this field, anything that's a bit unusual and not off just any common rack. (see what I mean in my stitch-along-thread by kaliii). I'm a slow writer, but pretty reliable. So, it takes time, but I like the slow speed of letter writing. It gives me enough time to write up a good reply, since it's the dialog and exchange of ideas that I'm really looking for.

Have a great time and looking forward to hearing from you!

I would love to!! I need to practice my German, too. I studied it for over 18 years now, but I can't really use it much in the states. I've sent a PM to you :)

I remember a time when pen pals were the “in” thing to do. I agree there is something extra special about receiving actual letters.

Was that maybe in the early 90s. Over here, each pupil at school could get a penpal from abroad, it was all organized by the school.
I still love it. The pics on the net here are nice, but holding a personal letter with lots of content in your hand and maybe some pictures printed out, it's unbeatable. The internet as a medium can't compete there. Already got 2 lovely replies and I'm happy about it!

I've been penpalling since I was ten, and it's been a rocky road as I seem to have lost most to digital communication or time. I'm still in touch with one of my early penpals, but via facebook now rather than actual mail. I don't get much time for cross stitch anymore, I love it, and still dablle every so often, but there's just not enough time to properly indulge in it these days. If anyones still looking, I'd love to write to someone ^_^
