Kitty Introductions

Post by talenaya »

Most don't know, unless you're on my Facebook page, but my two boys died in 2017. Grey was the first one to go on August 13th. He had been having medical issues and ww weren't sure if he was going to make it to Christmas. The shock was when his brother Thor died 3 days later from extreme heart failure. They were 16 years and had never been parted except a few years ago when Grey had surgery and had to stay with the vet. Everyone agreed that they just didn't want to be parted.

Back in May of 2018 my other half took me to see someone that cat just had kittens and she couldn't keep them. At the time I wasn't sure if I wanted another cat and definitely didn't want a male. After meeting the woman and hearing how her cat had stopped nursing after 4 weeks so she was just mashing up HOT DOGS to feed them my mind was made up.
They are close to a year now, healthy, and spoiled rotten!

This is Leia. She is definitely the princess of the household. She is often attached to my hip. A complete Momma's girl. Her nickname is "Psycho Kitty" do to the fact she gets into EVERYTHING. She found her way into the glass cabinet!

And here is Kylo (Yes, a boy!). He is the more reserved of the two. The first few weeks here he was a little devil although if you met him now you would never know. He hates being coddle but will just hang out by you or against you. If he wants to be petted he will come to you and butt his head and when he is done he'll prance away but he won't play with a toy unless you or his sister is at the other end!

Kylo has taken to some training but not much. Leia will do it when she wants too (classic cat). I do love them. I don't have the same type of relationship I had with the boys but I'm still glad Scott took me there that day. Just isn't natural not to have cats in my life.

Sorry about your long term friends, but glad you have two new fleabags.

Every cat really is an individual. With dog breeds you know you'll get a variation on a personality, but even with registered cat breeds it's pot luck as to what you get. Glad both you & they are learning how to rub along together.

Regards,

Richard.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your cats. I remember them very well and I am very sure they are happy that you have cats again. I have a plaque in my kitchen that says "Life is better with a Cat". I don't know if you remember mine. We lost Shirley a few years ago but Laverne is as bossy as ever at 19. Maybe bossier.

I'm sorry to hear about your boys - but what lovely successors you've found! (Or could you say they found you :-)? )
They obviously already have their very own places in your heart.

Oh yes, Carole. I remember yours! I'm sorry to hear about Shirley. I'm glad Laverne is bossier now at 19!

Thank you, Mabel!

I think you could say Scott found them LOL. But I'm glad he had me look. Still can't believe they were being fed hot dogs at 4 weeks!

They are both gorgeous 'kids' and of course you had to have them. 16 yr is a long time to have had your Dear Boys and it is hard to be without a cat in the house after that. So glad you succumbed to the temptation and now have 2 wonderful young friends. :)

The plaque is a wooden piece that was given to me, though I would love to stitch it. :thinks: I might have to go look and see if there is one. Will let you know if I find it. I'm not even sure where the plaque comes from.
