Greetings Friends, I just thought I ought to explain my very brief comments on various posts today and for a few days down the road.
I have a brand new computer!!!!! Basically a lot of the keyboard is the same but then quite a few symbols are not where they have been for the last 20-25 yrs. Very trial and error at the moment.
My marvellous computer savy SIL has done a fabulous job of setting it all up for me including various add ons I usually have.
Not sure if I want to try adding an update photo yet maybe later in the week when the day to day stuff is more comfortable.
Oh for those interested it is an Asus machine very modern with no big box of tricks to turn on and off and run it - just push the button at the side and there it is.
Wiah me luck that I don't do something stupid over the coming days.

Good luck figuring out your new toy Sally! How lovely to have someone knowledgeable set it up for you, that makes such a difference. As for doing something stupid, I've had this computer for about 6 years I think and I still manage to get things wrong on it sometimes
I love new computers and tablets and if I were a gazillionaire I would probably get new ones every year. As it is, my mac is 10 years old and I can't even upgrade it anymore. So I keep waiting for it to crash which it stubbornly refuses to do. Which is very very good for my pocketbook, but I love learning the new software etc apps etc. Don't understand any of the hardware and don't know anything about programming. Have fun Sally!

Congratulations, Sally! Enjoy your new computer. We all seem to have some computer angels rescuing us from time to time. In my case it is my son who finds very annoying my refusing to learn more about the computer than I need for work and correspondence.
Lyudmila - my thoughts exactly. If I don't know what to do I call Jenny in and if she doesn't know (highly unusual though) she asks DH and he sorts us out.

Always handy to have a Tame Computer Boffin to hand. I have one in the shape of D/H and he can GROAN louder than anyone when I make a complete b***s up.
