Thank you all for your wishes.
Thus far, no-one in the family has said that to me today. :?

Feeling very tired, have spent most of the last few month living/existing from hotel rooms in Coventry, trying to facilitate the construction and testing of a vast spacecraft transport box. It has been a terribly painful process with welds breaking, and other bits not going well or as expected. The proof test of the trolley for the spacecraft was terrifying, a huge steel beam weighing 5 tonnes and loaded up with another 2.7 tonnes deflected 14" (350mm) before springing back when unloaded. The energy stored could easily have killed someone if another critical weld had failed. When we deliberately dropped the 19.5 tonne box 4 times (to test the shock protection system), another 2 critical welds failed. It's all been rather dispiriting, as some of the problems have been down to me and some to the manufacturing company. It is close to 10 months late and is now likely to hold up the launch of a £100 million spacecraft.

Regards,

Richard

Oh dear, that doesn't sound like a good birthday present :-(
Are you still in Coventry? If so, feel free to come round for a cuppa and a chat (or even some stitching) to unwind; I'm in in Dunchurch - just pm me for the address.
Hope the project will go more smoothly from now on!

Currently back at home. Going up again on Monday for what promises to be a difficult meeting on Tuesday. Been working 13 hour days during the testing, and up to 7.25 hrs drive for the 145 miles. This country is simply grinding to a halt with too much traffic. So tired at the moment, a weekend isn't long enough to recover in. Ah well, Christmas is coming up soon, and will get a break then.

Got a birthday muffin after supper, with a single candle. Can't fit 55 candles on a single muffin..

Regards,

Richard.

In spite of all the mess of things not going right I hope that you still had a HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Hopefully there will be a moment when the clue to it all will pop into someones mind and it all comes right.
