(There is the amazing National Maritime Museum at Greenwich and it's near the Cutty Sark [a Tea Clipper with a figurehead of a woman wearing a sark - 19th century Scots for 'chemise' style night dress - that was very cutty -19th century Scots for short]. The fascinating thing about the Cutty Sark is that it's from the uncomfortable period between all wood ships & all metal ships. It has hollow iron masts (lighter & stronger than timber), iron frames and wooden hull planking. As a result it suffered very badly from corrosion caused by dissimilar materials in contact with each other, and only had a very short life in it's intended role, probably shortened further still by the huge advances in steam propulsion that made it virtually obsolete, to the extent Cutty Sark only took part in 8 'Tea Seasons', 1870-1877)
