No homework done in between classes at all (life, eh?) but I nearly completed the pavement while at my class. It was slow going because it contains 9 different blends of colours, and I miscounted in one place so had to unpick and re-stitch  but I'm happy with the way it interprets the photo!

And it looks good. I love the way the colours and the offset of starting the stitches make the pavement look like it is made of slabs :applesauce:

A little progress, and a FoF!

A poor squashed tulip has been inflated to its full height, some of the paving has been spruced up and a new bit of paving has been added.

I just love the colour combinations. From a distance, they will look so true to life. The pavement texture is also very interesting. Looks simpler than I'm sure it must be to execute.

The stitch itself is easy enough - it's the constantly changing blends that make it so labour-intensive. Sometimes I'm lucky to do two or three stitches in the same blend, and I think the total different blends is now over 10  . It makes it impossible to get into a rhythm, which is what you want to get them nice and even. Still, a good laying tool definitely helps.

Ha, I'm getting quite good at them as pretty much every bit of this blinking canvas is covered in blends of some sort, some of them made up of three or four colours. After this I am going to do something with blocks of solid colour!

I was getting quite despondent about my canvaswork as I've been working on it, off and on, for 3 years now; but then I looked through my photographs and compared my "overview" pic after April's class with the one taken after last weekend's class, and suddenly I realise that there is progress!

What an interesting stitch to use with a combination of colours. Gives a lot of texture.

Your tulips are so lovely. Interesting stitch to do the foliage.
