This is where I stopped last night. All of the backstitch that can be done at this point has been done. I tried using two strands of the metallic instead of the called for one on the backstitch to see if it would stand out more, and I think it helped. I may or may not need another color of the metallic but I will probably need more of the one I’m using since I’m doubling it.

Vanessa, I also try to stitch things with little backstitching, but some designs like this one (1) absolutely have to have it and (2) cannot be resisted. :-)

Wow, just wow!! This is looking so very awesome and your stitching is amazing!! It makes me want to try and find this design, but I know that is definitely not a very easy one to find!! Looking forward to your next update. Keep up the beautiful work!! :applesauce: :applesauce:

:applesauce: :applesauce: Beautiful! I think doing the back stitching as you go on a project like this makes a whole lot of sense. When I was "into" Teresa Wentzler designs I did the same thing. It's overwhelming to leave it to the very end, but it certainly brings the design to life. Looking forward to more updates!

It makes a lot of sense to backstitch as you go, but oh my goodness, that backstitch key

You are stitching this so beautifully, I would think this would raise your spirits as you are working on it.

The detail in this gives it an amazing depth.
Although not something I would ever stitch I can still admire the work involved :applesauce: :applesauce:

Well, almost a year and a half later, look what came out to play. I forgot how much I enjoy stitching this one so I’m going to try to focus on it in the evenings and on my days off.

It’s been a very long time since I’ve worked on this one…over a year, I think. The picture doesn’t really show how pretty the fabric is (light green) and it doesn’t capture the sparkle in the castle, but it does show that some progress has been made.

It is sometimes nice to get an UFO out and feel inspired to get on and do it again.

I am not sure what the three white plastic items are in your picture - they seem to be holding the threads?

Which reminds me I haves a Peacock to finish, those metallic threads

The white rubbery plastic-y bobbin-y things are to keep parked threads somewhat organized. I’ve seen them on some stitchy fb groups and thought I’d try them. I’m not certain they’re any better than using the hair clip things (like the one clipped to the grime guard) but they do the job.

Thanks Debby,

I saw the threads going into them but couldn't work out how they were holding the threads. I'll stick with poking my threaded needles into a labelled post-it on the pipe insulation I use as grime guards over the two rollers

So bright. Perfect going further into spring!

Those plastic things are EZ bobs or Bob-EEZ -- I use them all the time when I'm making braids (kumihimo, especially). They really do keep lengths of thread tamed, and in stitching, I can see that it would be simple to extract the colour you need without disturbing any of the others (and equally simple to put it back). I see now they come in two sizes, which is really helpful. I never thought to use them as you are Debby, but it's a very good idea.
