Transporting finished work

Post by bolshiegirl »

Hi there

I have just finished my first project :applesauce: and have washed and ironed it. Now I want to take it to my framer and was wondering if anyone has tips on how to get it there uncreased. Is it best to roll it inside some kind of tube? I don't want to fold it after I have ironed all the folds out!

Any help much appreciated. :D

It depends a bit on the size -- I tend to put it flat between two sheets of cardboard, then slip it into a tote bag, but if you've just stitched a 2ftx3ft HAED that may be a little difficult, in which case rolling it onto or into something would seem the best option.

When I take my pieces in and have them framed I always roll them and wrap them in a piece of white tissue.

Hi,
To after I press or steam them I usually safety pin the piece to a hanger. I then leave it hanging in my closet until I'm ready to make the trip to the framers. To travel I just slip plastic bag or plastic sweater bag from the dry cleaners over the hanger and off we go. I can hang the piece in the back seat of the car too this way and it doesn't slide around either.

Congratulations on you first completion!

Some years ago I trained and worked as a draughtsman, and although my career eventually went in a different direction, I still have the arty-type folders that I used for large plan drawings
