[quote="Mabel Figworthy"]Ordered the titanium squissors   -- miniature Hardanger here I come :-)!

Can't wait to hear your opinion of these. I've used the industrial ones my Mom had when she worked in a sewing factory. They put me off of trying the more delicate ones. I'm afraid my ham fists would get in the way of the precise control required.

I'll give a detailed report!

Ali, here's your star :-) -- DMC 3743 and Mill Hill seed beads (03041 white opal) on 22ct ant. white hardanger:

And my candle design; I'm changing a few things about it, this was very much a trial piece. The holly berries are oval so I need to change their shape. I want to arrange the two holly leaves asymmetrically. And I need a different red! it's not so clear in the pic but in real life it's very dark, more a burgundy. Also, although it looks quite startling on the black, it does make it difficult to successfully hide cut ends, so I may choose to do it on white or cream hardanger with the candle in light grey or light blue. But for now here is the first attempt:

Great designs. I think the pointy star shape turned out really well. Good idea of Ali's. :applesauce:

Ooohhhh!!! I think the star looks wonderful .... and not just because I suggested it!! Is there an chance you could refer to it as the Ali-star' from now on – I always wanted a star named after me and this it the closest I'll ever get!!

The candle is beautiful ..... I'm feeling Christmasy already!! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Thanks all :-)! Here's the next instalment in the Experiment series:

22ct cream Fein Ariosa; CWC / CWF 126 Faded Linen
Good coverage, this combination works very well. The Kloster blocks seem to be a bit looser than on hardanger fabric, so it’s a bit more work to tuck the cut ends under, but otherwise a winner.

Looks lovely Mabel, that floss colour looks so subtle on the light fabric. I think you used it on one of your madonnas as well

Ah Mabel!! I just had to let you know!

Mark and I were just discussing what to have for dinner, with the Provincial baked vegetables I'm making tonight. We had stuffed peppers last night and Mark joked if it would be possible to stuff an anchovy, which would really test my hand/eye coordination.

Then he said “with the size of those stitches in that doppelganger or head-banger that Mabel does, she could probably do it!!”

Okay, he might not have a clue what it's called ..... but he was impressed!!

Wow, your latest experiments are gorgeous, Mabel! I really love the candle and holly, that would make a lovely Christmas card or a tree decoration.

 I'm impressed he got that close :-) -- well done Mark!
(The baked veggies sound yummie, by the way *licks lips*)

PS I shall dedicate the 55ct head-banger (if it ever happens) to Mr Ali-cat :-)!
