Have you thought about giving her a teaser photo (where it piques her interest but can't quite tell what it is, like a close up of the stitching) and an IOU and let her know she'll be getting the finished project sometime soon? She'll know you've put a lot of work into her gift so she probably won't mind waiting a little while longer.

Thank-you for your words of encouragement everyone!

I cropped the cover picture of the chart to see how it would look. I'm hoping to at least be able to go this far over:
Image

My tendonitis is in the inner part of the elbow. Technically called "Golfers Elbow." I am not a golfer, by the way! I l have found out that the repetitive motion of sewing can cause this. I'm currently using ice and pain meds and I wear an elbow support while I'm stitching. I know rest is what it needs. It's such a nuisance!

Yes. I did think about doing something like that, but we live in Canada and are going over to Scotland for the wedding, and if I don't take it with me, then I don't know when she would get it. Thank-you for the suggestion, though!

3madspaniels wrote:This is looking beautiful. You have made a good choice with your material as stiching that on white would be hell!
Yes, I would not have liked to do this on white, that's for sure. The fabric colour is khaki. It was recommended by Kustom Krafts. The choice of the "woodsy" colour makes sense. Any show- through would look "natural." The brown through the wolves fur or showing through the snow.

Devoted Soulmates: I've gone about as far as I can go!

Post by JA Fan »

This is as far as I'm am going! I hope I've finished it at a logical place in the picture. :x: I would have liked to have completed the whole chart, but I'm running out of time.
As silly as it sounds, I feel like I'm cheating. My DH says he likes it better this way, bless him.
We still have another five weeks, but I wanted to leave plenty of time for the framer in case of delays. You never know.
I loved doing this, but doing it to a deadline is no fun. I underestimated how long it would take to do. A lesson to learn!

:applesauce: Congratulations on your finish!! :applesauce: I think it looks stunning, and I agree that it actually looks better than with the whole wolf in there....it centres the design on their heads which I feel is more appropriate anyway! 8)

I know it may be tough for you to let go of the feeling that you should have finished it in its entirety but just think, no-one else will have the design like you have stitched it, so that makes it more unique and special....especially considering the pain you have endured stitching it too!

Kudos to you for sticking at it....I think you deserve a nice glass of :wine: now and rest that elbow for a while :poke: we don't want you damaging it any further!

Since it's a wedding present, it seems perfect to focus on the wolves' heads. I think it's wonderful that it's unique. You did a beautiful job of stitching!

Hope you get a chance to rest your elbow and get to feeling better.

:applesauce: I have to agree with the others that I think it looks better than the original because you are completely drawn to their heads which are amazing. This is a fantastic gift and lots of :applesauce: to you for sticking with it. You need to rest that elbow now so it gets better quickly and you can get back to painless stitching. This is a great great job.
