It makes me chuckle everytime you update as you have the headless fairy. I don't know how you can leave the face until last......I always work to the face first.
She is so bright and beautiful!!!!!

I love seeing your updates of this design!
Great work on all of those hearts - it's not easy to figure out where they go.

That made me chuckle. I'd never really thought about her being a headless fairy before. My thinking is that I hate having the face stitched with out the backstitching, but I like to wait until the end to do all of the backstitching (I'm paranoid that the hoop with mess up the back stitching so want it on as little as possible). So, if I stitch the face at the very end then I can go straight to backstitching the face. See, makes perfect sense ... in mechie logic.

Thanks, although they aren't hearts (even though they do look it now). They're ladybugs! Or at least they will be once they get their french knot spots. I'm not exactly looking forward to that part. I think I counted somewhere around 70 french knots on all of those ladybugs.

Guess I'll deal with those when I get there.

She is gorgeous, even without her head quite yet. This is such a lovely design and it does sound like you are enjoying it very much. The colors are so bright and lively it must be a nice change from the softer colors of Elementals.

I so hope you are enjoying stitching her? I stitched her originally for the magazine and loved every stitch I knew she was special but oh boy I can't remember doing all those french knots - don't worry you soon forget the pain!

I love her very much! I'll muddle through the french knots somehow. I know they'll be worth it. I
can get them right, it just might take 3 tries per knot before I do.

I worried when I identified them as hearts that they might be something else, like flower petals. Thought I might be putting my foot in my mouth.

Sorry, didn't realize that they were ladybugs.
Thanks for being so nice about my mistake!

No, no! Don't worry about it. They really don't look like ladybugs yet. I even had hubby asking what the heck those red spots were supposed to be. I promise, they'll look like ladybugs when they have their spots.

She is no longer the headless fairy! Almost finished the cross stitching (just filling in the last wing). Then it will be on to back stitch, French knots, and beading! I'm hoping to have this completly finished by Sept 1st so that I have nearly a month for framing (Her birthday is Sept 30th). My LNS does a great job with the framing, but sometimes they're a bit slow.
Here she is:
Thanks for looking!
