Thanks everyone :D I feel much better about the rose now after all your great comments. Orginally I started it to experiment with colours and blackwork but hubby asked if I intended it for the school. I, being like most stitchers, was worried it wouldnt be good enough. But then I decided if I didnt give it to the school it would just sit around as I had no plans for it.

Big huge thanks to the people who helped with the alphabet, I spent the afternoon scouring the internet for an alphabet I liked, popped out to pick some thread from Hobbycraft then charted the letters and made a start. However I decided to use a dark green, which is the colour of the school jumpers, for the letters but for some reason I chose a statin thread. I must have forgotten how much trouble that thread gave me last time  and thanks to Mable, your alphabets are fab and have just the project in mind for the smaller letters :D

backstitch letters in satin thread  brave girl! It's a lovely idea using the school's uniform colours for the lettering :applesauce:

I havent had much time to stitch lately nor really the inclination. On Thursday I had my 3 month check up after the all clear from cancer, unfortunately one of the consultants found something so then I had to be seen by another consultant later that same day, had another check up and he didnt know what it was. He said I would have to have a biopsy to check the cancer hadnt come back, in 2 3 weeks. Friday I had a call off the hospital and asked if I could go to another hospital to have a pre op check that same day, so after a lot of rushing about i managed to get there. During the check they said I was to have the surgery on Monday! Had a huge rush because my son had an appointment at a different hospital to have the pins taken out of his ankle on the Friday afternoon. So I had the surgery Monday, and by doing little bits everyday this was finished tuesday, just enough time to was and iron, but not frame :( then today I had a phone call to say the biopsy was all clear and the cancer hadnt come back!! And heres the finished piece, just in time for the end of school!!

After hours trawling the internet for an alphabet I liked, in the end I didnt go with a backstitched one!! Sturggled with the dark green satin thread. Satin thread is not my friend! When the statin thread got too much I stitched this little biscornu for my sons teacher, and put her and his name on the back and class and year.

Sorry pic isnt very good.

My sons teacher loved her little gift!! she said she had never had a gift with so much thought. I made my husband take my son in (due to his broken legs we have to take him into the school and hand him over to a teacher, rather than let them wander through the gates as they normally do) with the blackwork rose. He managed to bump into the headteacher so handed it over personally. He said she loved it! He mentioned that due to time constraits we hadnt been able to frame it. He was told on the spot that it would be framed and hung in the reception area :D Im so glad, I was so worried they wouldnt like it, which was why hubby was sent in with it! So impressed (I like to think, lol ) with the stitching that hubby had a phone call off his stepmum, who works at the school, to ask if I could go into the school and maybe show some of the children how to stitch!! but this is only a maybe at this point! we shall see if they still want me to do it in September! but still its nice to think they like their gifts :D

This is my other WIP, apart from the Disney Cars ABC. I usually work on this in the daytime, if I manage to grab a spare hour. This project is my first on linen and will be my first with beads when I get to them.
This is my progress as of today, Ive been working on and off for about 2-3 weeks. I treated myself and kitted this up as a christmas present to myself as it uses Crescent colours hand dyed threads and they are gorgeous!! :D
