Oh, by the way, I used four-sided edging on one side and hemstitch on the other to finish the top -- which do you think works best? Or do I just let them choose? They've already learnt four-sided edging but hemstitch would be new to them and I'm worried it might be a bit much for one lesson with all the pulled work stitches as well.

:applesauce: It looks great!

I vote let them choose...that way the ones feeling overwhelmed can do something they are comfortable with, the ones who want more challenge can try the new method :) .

Finished the cross stitch and fractionals on the stained glass window, now all I have to do is the window's outline and the "lead", for both of which I am using DMC floche.

PS it's not so light and washed out as in the pic, must be the flash :-(

I used three strands throughout for better coverage to make the colours pop :-)

I also had a few quickie Christmas gifts to complete, for our neighbours who are looking after our cat Alfie over Christmas. I decided to make initial coasters for them, and here is his:

and mounted:

It's stitched on 14ct cream gold-fleck aida using Carrie's Creations stranded cotton in the shades Hearts On Fire and Old Plymouth Red. Her version will use the same fabric, but the shades Serenity and Purple.
