The fair runs from Aug 25- Labor Day. I have to drop off my items on Aug 14 and can pick them up again Sept 7-8. I've never entered anything before so I don't know if I can get my results prior to the fair starting. But I've already planned on going the second day its open- and hopefully one of my pieces will have a ribbon hanging from it. I am entering 3 pieces in different categories. Its free to enter so I might as well. I did have to fill out a registration form with my email- so maybe the results will me emailed to me? I'll get that all figured out when I drop my pieces off. Certainly I'll get the judging form when I pick my items up.. but thats a looong time to wait. I hope to know before then.rcperryls wrote:... When is the fair?

My framer has entered stitched pieces to the fair, and has done framing work for judges and other fair entrants. She said judging is tough and their critiques are thorough and specific- which is what I want. And said it took the fun out of stitching for her because she was overly concerned with every stitch. Not me- I want the critique. Its actually the whole point of why I am submitting my work. I want someone that knows stitching to evaluate it.
The shifted beads.. uggghh that's going to bug me. Because I actually thought I would leave them off. I went back and forth with my sister- my sounding board- who let me verbalize my internal debate. I'm not that familar with beadwork.. this piece may have the most beading I have ever done. Its just been little bits here and there on other projects. It's little bits with this one too- but they are bead clusters where as on previous projects it was just singular beads.. so, they just needed to be straight. Here, the beads not only have to be straight, they have to be set evenly against the others in the cluster. And they are in their own spots- not by stitches that can help hold them in place. The beads were extras- not in the original design at all. They were just an extra to make it more fun and sparkly. And I knew.. with judging.. if they're there, they need to be perfect. But if they weren't- nothing to judge, no points deducted. And now two beads in different clusters have shifted.. of course they have. grrr.
