Oh, the Chatelaine freebie is beautiful! That's one I downloaded and it's living on my hard drive and calling to me. I did Algerian eyelets on another project and really enjoyed them too. I know this sounds kinda crazy, but it felt like my needle was dancing as I did them.

If we had to plan what we would do every stitched piece I don't think I'd do half the things I do

That freebie design looks gorgeous!

I can easily see that Chatelaine freebie turned into a biscornu or mounted into a glass trivet.
Looks wonderful.

Some things you simply
have to stitch, whether or not you know what to do with it afterwards

Couldn't settle on one project this week for some reason. Did about 300 stitches on Tardis - but couldn't get into it, then did a bit on Butterflies Galore and am now starting page 2 of QS Believe! Here's the progress on BG - we have an eye:

The threads are all hanging loose at the bottom not because I'm trying parking but because I'm trying the finishing thread method where you pull the threads to the front then stitch over them to secure as you move down - saves flipping over the frame so much and seems to be working ok for the mo.
Am itching to start my
Sampler Girl chart - think stitching the freebie chatelaine has made me realise that I've been stitching too much of the same 'type' - IYSWIM - full coverage cross stitch designs and that I need to mix it up a bit. So with that in mind I've just bought the back issues for 2010 for the Gift of Stitching magazine - as if I didn't have enough charts already, but I know I am among friends here who understand this addiction.....

Yes, I totally understand your addiction!

Fortunately, this one is legal, safe, healthy, gorgeous, and easily obtainable (maybe too easy.) All your projects are wonderful.

Does that mean you stitch over the threads in the front?? I have never heard of that. How is it working??
In the meantime I love what you have done so far on this one. The eye is really amazing.

and I hope Raine is right that this is legal, safe, healthy, gorgeous and easily obtainable addiction. Cause mine seems to be getting worse all the time.

Sorry - my rubbish explanation!! You stitch over the threads at the back - then when you get down to the 'tails' at the front you just snip them off as your thread has been stitched over on the back to hold it secure. It just saves flipping the frame over, weaving the end under a few other threads and snipping the ends. It worked well for the eye as it was basically full on confetti but the skin underneath the eye was only made up of two colours so covered the confetti 'tails' nicely. Its a tip I picked up from the HAED BB - they explained if far better than me though

Oh, she's looking beautiful! I'm hoping to get back to mine in the new year - I'm part way through the same design.

Good explanation, not rubbish, and not a bad idea. Since I have started a little bit of parking I don't have to turn the piece over which isn't really so hard to do when using Q snaps or a hoop. That is one reason I have stayed away from frames I think. I need to spend more time on the HAED BB and see what other tips I might be able to use.
