These books are not too well known in my country, in fact, they're rare in bookstores over there, and some only carry the original, hard to find a Portuguese version.
Anyway, when I was 8 or 9 I found Little House in the Big Woods in the school library and loved it. I read the first 3 books but didn't find any more of them, and then with time I forgot completely about it.
Then when I was 13 I caught myself thinking about Laura and their wood cabin, and I couldn't remember the name of the book. Nobody I asked knew about it either and I actually started thinking it was a dream, especially because my parents have a farm in the Amazon, where I spent most of my vacations at, and as a child it was very rustic, we only had generators, and our manager's wife used to make cheese, bake bread, etc. Top that with the fact we're both Laura and I became convinced I dreamed a version of my own experiences and turned it into a story.
Fast forward a few more years and I was 16, and living in Arizona as an exchange student, and one day me and my foster sister were looking for something in a closet and there it was, a stack of books with blue covers. I instantly remembered them and eagerly read the entire series. I was so excited to have found them again!
A few years later, back in Brasil I looked all over the place and on the net to buy my own collection but couldn't find it. It wasn't until I moved to Puerto Rico and got married at 26 that I finally managed to snag the entire series in that same blue cover edition off e-bay.
