A gosling I came across in my home town last month. It just makes me smile whenever I look at this picture :-)

"Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote: "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked. "Sure," said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child."

Some time ago a friend lent us the Ladybird For Grown-Ups book "How it works: Cats". Some of it is silly, most of it is funny, and I have no idea why this particular page made me laugh so much.

That's brilliant, utterly brilliant. Will probably have to get the book.

Did I tell you about my daughter-in-laws chicken?

She kept noticing that this one chicken kept disappearing into the neighbours field. She would come back, then disappear again. One time she didn’t come back, so everyone assume a coyote got her. DIL was out feeding the dog one morning when she heard peeping. She turned, and the chicken was returning…with 14 baby chicks following her.

I’ve been up to their farm a few times and it’s so cute seeing them all following her around all the time.

14 is going some. :applesauce: It lovely watching little balls of fluff growing up and learning about stuff.

I feed the wild birds and have had to put their food in a double cage to prevent the blackbirds stealing it. One of the baby Bluetits watched the other bluetits going through the outer cage and holding on to the inner cage while pecking at the suet block. Its version was to fly down grab the outer cage and spin through ending up facing outwards. It then did two laps of the inside of the outer cage looking very confused before it realised "its behind you" and looked over its shoulder and joined the rest of the family

A broody hen will find a way!

@Jo: my blackbirds are very well behaved. It's the jackdaws that are the seed-feeder marauders. :x
