Yes is the model one and no I don't get to keep it!!
As for stitching for a living... I don't think you can. I see it as a real bonus that I am paid to do my hobby but it really is just pennies for the amount of work. I think I did work out that one of the previous HAEDs I did paid less than a 65pence per day!!!
Having said that I do love doing them and it has meant that i have stitched things that I would never have done for myself.

It's fabulous Liz!
I was wondering, when you do a model stitch for someone, are you on some kind of time scale with it?

Liz, how did you get into stitching models? It's something I'd love to do myself when Xan is a little older and I have more stitchy time.

Tb, it depends a lot on who and what I am doing them for. Generally with the HAED ones that I do for Colray Crafts there is no deadline and she is happy to have them back when finished. I do get a bit stressed as they do take ages but she seems quite happy.
The recently I have been doing the new designs for Michael Powell. They had a really tight deadline as they needed to have them test stitched to be put into production for all the craft shows which tend to be February and March.
I think the last one I did for him I had to turn round in 4 days!!
Kell, I first started model stitching through my local shop, about 20 years ago. She recommended me to some designers. The rest has just been writing and offering to various firms over the years.
It tends to be very spasmodic. I have been for literally a year or two without any work where as at the moment I am inundated.
It is good fun though and as I said before you get to stitch stuff you wouldn't normally do.
