I have a hedgehog, a bunny and a cat who are all from the same series as the elephant and will be making appearances later on
I'm cautiously optimistic about finishing this in time for Christmas, but don't want to put aside the dinosaurs. I think I'm going to alternate one day on this/one day on the dinos and see how it goes. Obviously if it gets to mid-December and I've just got one or two squares left to do then I'll concentrate on this until it's all done!

This is such a cute idea!! I would be afriad of washing the bed spread!! Do you use waste aida to do the design or is it woven in a way you can use the fabric the way it is?

It's 14 count evenweave, so it's woven to be stitched on and because it's a fairly heavy woolen-like fabric it'll be really cosy on the bed when it's done

I'm going to be careful about washing it, I'll do it on the delicate cycle on the washing machine and things like that, and I'm going to try to get some Christmassy fabric to back it with to protect the back of the stitching too

You know what I haven't done? I haven't shown you how far I've got with the afghan! I'm pretty sure it won't be ready for Christmas this year (though it may travel with me to be worked on while at the in-laws' house) but it's enormous fun still!
You have already seen (but I'm going to refresh your memories anyway) the tree
the elephant
and the mistletoe
I have now completed the present
the kitty
the pudding
the joyful greeting
the bunny
and of course, the santa.
This is how it all looks at the moment on the bed
Next up is gingerbread people
When it gets to new year, I will be rotating this with the dinosaurs. Until then, I'm just doing this and the dinos are having a rest.
